Just thought I'd add a couple of images to this thread of two of the more difficult subjects if you want career contemporary cards of HOFers are including management and Negro Leaguers. I 'm hoping it inspires more posts of rare HOFers....Here is the very formidable looking Cuban great Christobal Torriente and the longtime owner of the Pirates who is often given credit for the first modern world series in 1903.*
* They had something like it in the 1880's between the American Association and National League champs starting in 1884, but it never really captured the public's imagination way the American League vs. National League fall classic did in the early 20th century. |
