This is already being done. Look uo the Collectable app.
They put an item. They have had cards, uniforms, etc. They offer the equivalent of an ipo which they set a value on an item and then sell shares in that item. The price per share x the number of shares = the value they set. Shortly after that they allow "trading" of those shares, much like the stock market. Occasionally someone offers to buy the item outright. That offer is presented to the shareholders for a vote. If they agree, they split the proceeds among the shareholders based on the number of share held. The owners of the site collect transaction fees from what i understand.
