Anyone else notice the post office doing odd things?

I’m not an expert on how USPS processes mail, but my deduction is it might be that certain stations that are over capacity may be offloading new mail to other stations even if in other states where there is processing capacity.
Or maybe they are just putting whatever they can on the first wagon, truck, bicycle, plane, train or automobile regardless of destination just to get the stuff out the door.

Update, I finally got the longest delayed package. It was mailed to me on November 23rd, no tracking but I saw the post office receipt with the date. It arrived December 24th. Was happy to get it.

I purchased cards 3 weeks in a row from the same seller in California. The cards from the first 2 weeks show that pre-shipment info sent USPS awaits item. The item purchased this week shows shipment received acceptance pending, in transit.
I'm confident that the seller has the items shipped. The USPS is just a bit messed up right now.

I sent 2 packages to Florida on the same day, one First Class and one Priority Mail. The FC was delivered in 3 days, the Priority took over 2 weeks. Theres no rhyme or reason here.

Like I said, I was not as mad about the time it took, but why the side trips? Thats just adding time.

Shipping is a mess right now. Here's one that is now over two weeks into a journey that is only 165 miles.

It got within 25 miles of my house before taking a second tour around New England after Christmas.

What is wrong with this system (USPS) ? Can't they just separate the mail into zip codes that start with (0,1,2, etc) and the mail would start in that direction ? I have mail going from TX to NJ to Detroit( stays there 7 days), back out east then back to Michigan etc. etc. What kind of sorting system are they using ? I think Amazon should take over anything that is not a letter ! If they can sort by region why can't the USPS ?
