I've been putting some effort into finishing up my 1970-71 OPC set over the last month. I got these ones in the other day and am now down to needing the Sittler and Clarke RCs.

I got a few in from 1965-66 Topps. I haven't added to this set for a long time (partly because I collect way too many sets all at once).

Here's my boy, Walter White (and Black):

Don't let the cute fool you; he's racked up over a dozen rat kills that I know of, plus a baby raccoon. He's a big, heavy pounce hunter; should have named him "Thud" because when he hits the floor it is with a thud. He's so strong that when he head-butts me he can knock me off balance if I am not paying attention. It gets pretty annoying when I am asleep in my recliner.

But I digress...

That is a really nice Parkie Howe. I always admire a nice #9. I may have to look for one of those.

Congrats, Scott.

I'm not putting together the set but I did manage to find the 2 you need on a vintage hockey facebook site for decent money if you haven't looked there yet?

Good Luck.

Hi Irv,

My cat generated a large vet bill so I'm out of action for a month or two.

What group are you looking in? I have a couple I'm in but don't think I've seen these two cards for a few months on Facebook.

Thanks,
Scott

Been wanting a ‘52 Gordie for a while as my earliest Howe card. Wanted to keep it low grade and not too spendy and finally found this guy without any creasing or wrinkles like I was seeing in just about everything else in my desired price range. Was really happy with the surface and image on this one.

That is a beauty. Congratulations. Still kicking myself for not buying a 52 Parkhurst Sawchuk from my local shop for a great price. Your patience paid off nicely on this one.

Thanks. That Sawchuk is a great card, really impressive detail in the image.

Always loved the look of this set. Looking for other 1930’s Blackhawks PSA graded cards!

I’ll call this an Olympics card for thread purposes. Newest addition to my Sport Kings collection, now at 7 cards total.

I usually try to avoid paper loss affecting the text narrative on back, but this card can get spendy if it’s too nice. So I compromised slightly on the back since the front displays really well and the price was pretty good.

It was a 101 base card set. With the team members signing 36 cards. The cards in the packs had a swirl on them so they are impossible to counterfeit.
It is the only pack pull Dryden auto that has ever been released in any product.Mind you he has had cut autos in many products. That is why it is
so expensive to buy if you can even find a copy.So shortly after the release of the product The Bay decided they would cash in on the excitement and
pulled as many of the players together that would agree to a signing. Then they released those autos in a box set. But this box set was missing 12 of the
big stars in the series. Even though the box set does have the same amount of autos.Just that some players had 2,3 and even 4 autos in the set.

They also did a set for the 1976 series.Way less autos in that set. But Bobby Orr played in the 1976 series so he has an auto in that set. Thanks.

Picked up a Topps Gretzky with a 1980s signature. Being in pen, it kind of gets lost against the darker parts of the card but happy to have it.

They are the same as what came in the packs but do not have the swirl on the surface. The Bay box set has the same amount of auto as what
the pack pulled set had(36 cards) But some players did not sign for The Bay. SO there are 12 players that did not make it into the Bay sets. But
many players signed multiple cards Plus there are two autos that were never in packs. John Ferguson and the trainer Joe Sgro.As you can see
by the scans.Someone tried to make a complete set of in person autos. They are all the ones signed in blue ink.The gold ink are from the Bay
box set.Thanks.
Great looking cards, Camaro.

I still remember to this day the various teachers who rolled in the T.V.'s into class so we could watch the Summit Series.

Are you going to get it graded/authenticated?

Signature is even harder to see behind plastic, so maybe a JSA letter sometime when they’re in my neighborhood.

Nice Gretz!

Owned his rookie at one point and will definitely add one to stash in the collection again one day

Yeah, they are getting more affordable all the time it seems. Was able to upgrade my O-Pee-Chee copy recently and very happy with it.

Bought one box of the 22-23 Parkhurst Champions and pulled this redemption. What surprised
me was just how fast Upper Deck go me the card. Less than 10 days (7 business days).
So good for Upper Deck. Thank you. Very nice card,3 colour patch plus an auto. So not really a pick up. Thanks.

OK, I picked up these couple pictures of Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr.I have no idea where or how
they were obtained back in the day. So any help there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wayne Gretzky Measure 8-1/8 inches X 10-1/2 inches

Bobby Orr measures 10-7/8 inches X 16-1/4 inches

1970/71 Dad’s Cookies Bob Clarke. Same year as his rookie at a fraction of the price.

Eric,

Nice pickup. The Perreault and Park are also in the set as "alternative" rookie cards to their OPC/Topps.

Thanks.

I'm glad the masses have largely shunned cards that are:
  1. "odd" sizes
  2. only licensed by the Players' Association

It generally makes pickups like these so cheap they can be impulse purchases.

A small lot of '80s Flyers cards arrived in the mail yesterday. Nothing high-value; however, they bring me straight back to my youth. Ideally, that's why we collect, right?

This to just let anyone know that may be interested in a 1970 OPC Bobby Orr black bottom all-star card
that there is one on eBay right now and I believe someone may be going to get a great buy on the card.

First card I have posted in a while.

A Wyatt Johnston 3 color patch auto RC that I've been coveting for a long time now. Not this particular one, anyone, but this one fit the bill. 33/49.

First time a card I've ever purchased that went for eBay authentication. I always thought, but, I was wrong, obviously, that the auth was only for cards over $300 (this one wasn't) and they had to be graded.
I also didn't think, especially this one being raw and only $200 dollars, that a CDN buying off a fellow CDN that this card would apply/count as a eBay requirement.
All new to me.

Was concerned/worried, because these cards are sensitive to damage being so thick, that changing hands so many times and being shipped to the other side of he country/Americas it would get damaged but, thankfully, it arrived safe and sound in a very nice, well protected case from eBay.

Very nice!

I have a friend who's a big fan of Wyatt and I happily picked him up as a free agent in fantasy hockey - good subject, good card.

Thank you!

I also really like Wyatt Johnston and have been following him for a while now and collecting many of his cards along the way. I have some signed cards, patch cards, an Exclusives Young Guns, Canvas black and white Young Guns, etc, but never a patch/auto combined card. At only 21 yrs of age, his upside is huge, imo.
Glad to scratch that one off the list.
