Would prefer a pencil autograph or a strong pen autograph on a matte 1989-1993 card if possible.

Pencil?? I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who was lucky enough to get Griffey to sign a card that would have had him sign in pencil.

You never know! He signed some limited art prints in 1993 with pencil...

Art prints are commonly signed in pencil. Baseball cards in the late 20th century aren't. In person graphers and people paying $200 a pop at signings typically are using Sharpies. To your point one might exist but I can't imagine it would look very good. Unless you get an amazing price do yourself a favor and look for a nice one. You're going to be spending minimum $100 on Griffey, you should get one that's worth the effort. Just my opinion at the end of the day.

I’ve actually decided to stop looking for an already signed card and will instead get a 2007 UD Masterpiece 5x7 Griffey card. My plan is to get a pack of India Ink archival pens and save my money for when Griffey does a signing again, so I can mail my item and have it signed with a proper ink. It will take time and may end up being more, but I think it’ll be worth it as I was able to do it my way and enjoy it.
