Thanks to all for the insights.
2 questions - what is this Gilkeson Guide and how does one acquire it? Also - It would seem, then, that what happened in the case of Stubbs and the other affected Dodgers, WASN'T that the cards were shipped to the printer with white sections (such as the Tigers and White Sox cards in the same set were), but rather the cause of the variations was something to do with what happened at the printers/in the printing process. Does that sound most plausible?
