Unlike the commentator on the backside, I am still not sure about the legitimacy of my example, as the thin paper silhouette and deep purple background portion is pasted onto front, but it is nice to know that my odd little E94 McGraw (Not Lentz) potentially has a 3-fingered friend.

Ed, nice cards! I especially enjoyed seeing your E222 card of Smith because I collect cards of Virginia League Players, and I'm working on this extremely tough, 12-card set, which I doubt I'll ever complete before I croak (I have 9 of the 12 cards - I need Lipe, Revelle & Ryan).

To collectors unfamiliar with the E222 set, the card fronts AND card backs for EACH player were printed in more than one color (I'm not sure how many different colors). Also, the card backs have 3 different border designs AND 6 different type faces - a few players have been found with 2 border designs and 2 type faces. The chance of a collector ever completing a master set of E222 cards is less than slim and none! If you compare the two E222 Smith cards below (the blue-front card is no longer mine) to Ed's card (post #55) and Tom's card (post #24), you will see what I am talking about:

Val,
Here is a thread discussing these, which cards have which backs and possible color combos. Net54 is the leader for info on this series, many more threads discussing these.

Ed, many thanks for posting the link to this old E222 thread, which has better info than I provided - I have edited my post to correct a bit of erroneous info. Virtually nothing was known about the E222 cards until Tim Cathey did his fantastic research about 10 years ago and discovered who and what the "A. W. H." represented.

I have found E Card back-runs to be as fun as T206 back runs. Here is my Wagner batting back run -- Note, I am missing a couple that are confirmed and there are other possible backs that are not yet confirmed (e.g., Tango Eggs); also note that the T216 series, which is tobacco (thus the "T") has the same front and thus, in my opinion, is properly included in a back run; and finally note that the Menagerie back is an error with the back of a non-sport issue (DJ has an awesome Cy Young with a similar error back earlier in this thread).

I need to put pics on multiple posts

Default Harry Bemis E92 (Missing color pass)

Here is my E92 Harry Bemis that is missing a color pass. Note the color of his collar is not the normal blue but gray like the rest of his uniform. The brim of his hat is also gray not blue.
