It might just be the way the ad was printed back in the day, for the sake of ease and uniformity of the print. On the actual Detroit Pennant, the black felt background could easily have dictated that the letter shading be light instead of black (for the sake of proper contrast).

Randall's Detroit Pennant could actually be legit, and I would not immediately rule that one out. But it would help if Randall could confirm the dimensions.

As for those others on eBay... all are just overhyped City Souvenir Pennants, none of which are part of that American League Series.
