Mark,
I have some original individual photos of players in their minor league uniforms. I've found them harder to find than minor league team photos. Here an example from the 1961 Rochester Red Wings. I'll post more as the year progresses and the Red Wings are discussed. John Anderson Anderson, John (1961 Rochester Red Wings).jpg Last edited by BaltOrioles; 03-22-2020 at 08:38 PM. |

Day 83 (March 23, 2020 – 083)
Isn’t it ironic that Brooks Robinson was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Baltimore Orioles also won the World Series in 1983? It was a good year for the Birds and now all I can do now is reminisce about the good ole’ days. 1983 Orioles Yearbook Day 83 a Publication 1983 Orioles Yearbook 1.jpg After the 1983 World Series win the Orioles put up some ORIOLE BLVD. street signs for the celebration and parade and this is one of them. I know the Orioles have put up different street signs over the years for Earl, Brooks and Frank; possibly others as well. 1983 Oriole Blvd. street sign Day 83 b Oriole street sign.jpg Day 83 c Orioles Blvd sign.jpg 1983 World Series mug Day 83 e 1.jpg Day 83 f 2.jpg 1984 Street and Smith's Baseball Yearbook Day 83 d Publication 1984 Baseball 1.jpg Last edited by Mark70Z; 03-23-2020 at 01:10 AM. |

Good morning, several pieces from the 1958 All Star Game have been posted, so I thought I'd share a bowl presented to the players who were selected for the Game.

The above bowl was passed down to me from my grandparents who bought it at an auction who knows how many years ago. Unfortunately, I don't know who the bowl was supposedly presented to. |

That is a very cool piece. Would have been neat to have the players name, but still extremely nice... |

Mark:
If memory serves me right there was an ad on the back cover of that '83 Yearbook that one could drop their yearbook off at a local car dealership (All Star Dodge?) & Brooks would sign it and it would returned to you...Wonder how many people took advantage of that? Here is a neat photograph signed both by Brooks & Bowie Kuhn from his Induction ceremony (which I regret not being there). ![]() Last edited by roarfrom34; 03-23-2020 at 05:58 AM. |

My wife and I attended the 1983 Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Brooks. It was in front of the library then and attendance was smaller than current inductions. My most vivid memory was the group of buses from Baltimore and the sea of orange that arrived, just before the start of the ceremony . They attended the induction ceremony and then all loaded back onto the bus to head back to Baltimore. There was at least a dozen buses, maybe more. I'm getting old ... A few items from the weekend. I also picked up a HOF Brown Bat (349/500). The numbers were distributed randomly, so the fifth person in line wouldn't have received #5. The bat is at home and I don't have a photo to share. Maybe someone has one they can post. 1983 Hall of Fame Induction.jpg 1983 Hall of Fame Game 1.jpg 1983 Hall of Fame Game.jpg Plus a 2013 Bobblehead celebrating his MVP and World Series championships 2013 Brooks Robinson (ForeverLegends of the Diamond HOF).jpg |

Wish I could have attended; was in school that the time and couldn’t make it even though I tried. Also, do you really need two tickets?!? I have a stub and it’s all sticky for some reason. Nice bobblehead; I’ll have to pick that example up at some point. Looks nice. |

Day 84 (March 24, 2020 – 084)
This is a glass dish from The Sun which shows an image of the newspaper from September 23, 1966 when the Orioles won the AL pennant. It states, “BIRDS WIN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE PENNANT” and pictures Frank, Brooks and Palmer. Day 84 a Dish Birds Win AL Pennant.jpg Tried to find something that included Frank, Brooks and Palmer in the same item, and this is all I could locate that included the three Oriole greats. Some of these player portraits were used by a newspaper article on October 16, 1969 and I’m unsure if you can see, but the Frank and Brooks portrait are cut out. It’s possible they used these two pictures in separate areas and just taped them back on the photo, who knows (let’s ask Alan (BaltOrioles) the resident expert). Alan, Were either the Brooks or Frank on this Orioles sheet originally or were they cut from another sheet and just taped back on this sheet to be used at a later time? Also, do you know what year this sheet is from? Day 84 b Photo 1969 October 16.jpg |

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I'm always looking for Stockton Ports programs to fill some large holes in my minor league collection.
I do have a program from the 1960 Stockton Ports. The Ports were the Orioles Class C affiliate in the California League. They finished with a record of 66-74, but were plagued with poor attendance. It was a trend that would continue while they were an Orioles affiliate. The 1960 Ports drew 14,375 fans, for the whole season, an average of 205 per game. 1960 Stockton Ports.JPG Stockton produced a couple future Orioles in Frank Zupo and Herm Starrette. However, the guy to end up having the most success was future Major Leaguer, Chuck Hinton. Hinton had a nice 10 yr career with the Washington Senators and Cleveland Indians. 1961 Baltimore News-Post Scrapbook (Zupo, Frank).jpg 1963 Baltimore News-Post Scrapbook (Starrette, Herm).jpg A few other Ports included Steve Dalkowski, Jim Liggett and Bob Riedel 1961 Baltimore News-Post Scrapbook (Dalkowski, Steve).jpg 1961 Baltimore News-Post Scrapbook (Liggett, Jim).jpg 1960 Baltimore News-Post Scrapbook #34 (Riedel, Bob).jpg |

In an earlier post, I talked about team issued glossy B&W 8x10 photos of the Rochester Red Wings and posted an example of John Anderson from 1961. I don't see these photos offered very often, but try to pick them up when I can. I only collect photos of Red Wings while they were affiliated with the Orioles. I've also seen similar photos from the late 1950's, but the Red Wings were a St.Louis Cardinals affiliate. The uniform style often helps identify the earlier photos.
Here are a few more from 1961-1963. I love these types of photos. 1961 Ray Barker Barker, Ray (1961 Rochester Red Wings).jpg 1961 Jim Finigan Finigan, Jim (1961 Rochester Red Wings).jpg 1962 Ron Kabbes Kabbes, Ron (1962 Rochester Red Wings).jpg 1962 Billy Short Short, Billy (1962 Rochester Red Wings).jpg 1963 Sam Bowens Bowens, Sam (1963 Rochester Red Wings).jpg 1963 Earl Robinson Robinson, Earl (1963 Rochester Red Wings).jpg |

I don't know how long you've lived in Rochester, but the Orioles had a long standing relationship with the Red Wings, from 1961-2002. I'm sure you're interested in older Rochester items (patience ![]() In 1997, the Red Wings gave out photos that were sponsored by Frontier. The photos are 6x6 and quite nice. I have 6 different, but not sure if the set is complete. Anyone with others, please let me know.
