info on 1962 Bell Brand Dodgers Cards

I recently acquired a Maury Wills, but have no experience with these. I have read that this season has glossy fronts, but the one I have feels suspicious. Maybe too thick? Are there known fakes of this issue?

I've never run across a repro'd Bell Brand, but I remember having some that were lacking the gloss. So yours may be ok.

to clarify, this one has gloss on it, but the texture is almost "too" glossy. i just don't know what they are supposed to be like

I've been collecting these since the 1970s, and I've never come across any that seemed suspect. The cards do seem to have a slight gloss to them, at least compared to a Topps card from the same era. The cardboard used for the backs of the 1960 cards if definitely courser than that on the backs of the 1961s and 1962s. The 61s and 62s also seem to be a little more common.

As for collecting the '62 set, it's filled with some the most beautiful and colorful images I've seen on any cards, and it's pretty easy and affordable to complete. I'd say the same for the '61 set.

the front feels different than the front. sort of slick. what i don't know is if this is normal or it was laminated or something like that

Like I mentioned, there is a slight gloss to the surface of Bell Brands. Can you post an image of the card in question?

I have always loved the Bell Brand cards mainly because of the colorful images like those that you mentioned. Someday perhaps, but for now I have other sets I need to finish. Perhaps you can show some of your favorite Bell brand cards.

Here's a few more ... instead of trying to collect the sets, I just collect the players, and I have most of them. I simply can't justify owning three different cards of the same player, and there was very little roster turnover in those days. I've also included some Bell Brand Rams, which have the same great images and color.

I don't have any cards, but I have these posters. They weren't in the greatest shape when I got them, so I took them to an archival poster conservation place to stop the damage from continuing. I didn't want to "restore" them, because while some might prefer that, it's not really my style.

Each of them is 23 X 34 inches.

I had two of the Bell Brand posters back in the 1970s, one of Drysdale and the other of Hodges. I wish I still had them.
