The Babe Signs 1 year contract for $75K - March 16, 1932. At the time Ruth was the highest paid player in the history of baseball. Also, his salary was the same as the president of the U.S. whose salary was also $75K. Ruth actually took a $5K cut from his asking salary of $80K. It was estimated at the time that Ruth had been paid more than $750K as a baseball player.
