Seems that some sites may need to update their info. Had this been Cy Young, this card would surely be up there with Demaree, Stengel, Jackson, Gowdey, and other key players from this set. Now I know this is Julius Young. T210 is a great set and I enjoy learning more about these players!

The Sporting News had three contract cards that MAY fit together –
1. J.C. “Cy” Young – b. 1886 Fredonia, Wis.; add: 49 W 6th Street – Cincinnati, OH; Huntington 1910-Manager 1910- Won Pennant Rel. 7/10- LaCrosse 1910-rel. 7/10-Rochester, Minn. 1911- Davenport 1911- 2. Jacob Young – P, b. 1886 Fredonia, Wisc; Fredonia 1906- Madison & Milwaukee 1907- Milwaukee-Houston & Lake Shore League 1908- Lake Shore League 1909- 3. Cy Young – b. 8-22-85 Fredonia, NY; 6-1.5 180; Houston, Texas Rochester, Minn. Manitowoc, Wis. Stevens Point, Wisc. Chicago AM. 6/12- Pitched 85 innings without allowing a score up to date. July 20, 1912- Sioux City for 1913???? It looks to me like this might be 1, 2, or even 3 different guys, with their records intermingled. Now that you've identified a source listing him as "Julius", I'll do some more work on him. |

It looks like the Julius C. Young listed in the 1910 census died July 6, 1967 in Cincinnati, and is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery there, along with his wife and daughter. Still a lot of holes to fill in, though.

I could easily see Julius C. Young having the nickname “Cy”, especially if he was a pitcher. Irv Young of T206 was nicknamed “Young Cy” or “Cy the Second”.

It looks like his full name was Julius Carl Young. He was evidently born in Hamburg, Germany on July 12, 1877, and came to the US with his parents in the 1880s. As Tom mentioned, he died July 6, 1967 in Cincinnati. I got his middle name from his WWII draft registration card.
Julius is also listed in the 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 Federal Census' in Cincinnati. The 1910 census sheet is a supplemental sheet, probably done later in the year, once the baseball season was over. The 1910 census sheet listing him in Huntington, WV, was dated April 15, 1910. Also, regarding the request to post links to the stories I found, Newspapers.com is a subscription service. I've subscribed to it, as I do alot of genealogy research on my family. There are numerous articles (more than one per week) in the Point Pleasant (WV) Register from May - September 1910, regarding the local team and the league in general, with box scores. Steve
