I had no knowledge of Stan's passing until I noticed the thread
I had no knowledge of Stan's passing until I noticed the thread. I have much to say about this great player, teammate, husband, dad, hero to many, but I have to scoot for work. Suffice to say I am very sad.
Stan was part of my childhood growing up in the suburbs of Chicago---watching him play on WGN-TV Channel 9 with the great Lloyd Pettit calling the action. I was privileged to see 3 Black Hawk home games during the mid-late 60s, and Stan Mikita was full of action all the time in those games. May God rest his soul, and comfort his grieving wife Jill, their children, teammates, and Stan's many fans.
