After taking a close look at both the photo and postcard it's clear you've got two different images. Take a look at the dugout in relation to his hat.

I see that now. I concentrated on the dugout in relation to face and neck, but these were likely taken one after the other. I wonder if the other original is out there somewhere.

Conlon shot using 5x7 negatives until about 1916. If you print a 5x7 negative as an 8x10 print, as in the 1909 Cobb-Austin photo, you have to crop.
