Pretty interesting. Is it the size of a standard baseball or smaller or larger? Have you ever thought of having it x-ray'd to see if there is anything inside of it or does it feel solid throughout?

That's a fascinating item. Seeing those tack/nail heads it sure appears to be a baseball covered with a sheet of metal. Ruth hit his 200th in May of 1923 in Detroit. Would you mind sharing how and where you acquired it?
