How would you tackle this collection?

Unless they are full sets just go through and pull the star cards and throw away/give away the rest.

Those type of lots are fun to go through as a collector but $ wise as a dealer for resale they are almost completely worthless if you consider your time sorting them worth anything.

1) Take out the graded cards and anything with a sale value of $2 or more.
2) Donation of remainder to Goodwill and tax writeoff, presuming you itemize. Of course, this year they're doubling the standard deduction, so you would need a big mortgage to get anything back from the Feds.

We are always accepting donations and one of my donators mentioned that you can write off the shipping as well the card value when you mail a donation. If you ever want to ship me what you don't need for my Adat show, I'll be happy to provide you an address to ship to and send you a tax receipt
