Barry Bonds couldn't get signed after his age 42 season and his excessive amount of baggage after posting a .276 / .480 / .565 / 1.045 slash line his final season in baseball.
I highly doubt any MLB team will want the circus that comes with picking up an age 53 Palmiero, just so they can have some pinch hitter occasionally come off the bench for them and pull his hammy running down to first base after a ground out. If he really wants to play baseball, I'm sure there's any number of Independent League teams that would love to have him.
