I'm dying over here with all those beautiful Atlantics! I have both Yaz variations, but mine are beaters.

I felt so lucky to find these 2 -- they were a Steve Novella auction (I've found incredible stuff from his auctions, BTW, over the years). Next up is a Clemente - if I can find it!

Default New again at card collecting

Just getting back into it after bailing in the late 80's as many did. Focusing to pretty much 1955-1975 and the sets I like best. focusing mostly on ungraded cards trying to find a bargain or two. May get some graded. Also Attached are a few of my first pickups. They aren't as great as many I've seen on here, but it's my "starter lot". Comments on grade-ability of any of the cards would be appreciated.
Chris

Chris, I had to comment on the 1960 Mantle. While I don't think it would grade much higher than a 5 due to corner and edge issues, it is still an impressive copy for a couple of reasons. The 1960 mantle is often off-centered, has horrible registration, or has print defects (usually yellow markings in the red area). This card is free of these common flaws. The centering is fantastic. The image is extremely clear and registered, and it is free of print defects. Very nice mid-grade card.

Had a great couple weeks for the cardboard collection.

Picked up a nice Boog & Brooks for my sets.
Also nabbed a great-looking Eddie Murray RC
The Marichal has a dinged corner that I'm guessing a grader missed, but the rest of the card looks dynamite.

(I also added a new keystone to my collection, a T206 Mathewson! See the Pre-War Forum for that beauty.)

Not the greatest centered card, obviously, but super clean/clear and crisp.

That '77 is a beauty. Very under rated set, and tough in top condition. Thin card stock, chipping, and centering plague the set.

Default 1952 Topps 60 Syd Hudson PSA 8

Just won this beaut at auction for my 52 Topps First series set. My goal is as perfectly centered cards as possible, and I just HAD to get this Hudson, which is a rather tough card to find well centered:

Great examples, Mike!

I missed a PSA 8 Rose earlier this year; while I was contemplating it someone else BINed it.

I have 4 Atlantics that are in really nice shape and slabbed and several raw that should grade 5 or better that I will probably send in after the National. I also have two of the SPs...which took me 20+ years of concerted hunting to find.

Thank a ton, Adam. I would love to learn more about the SPs - those are the ones that were the key to winning the redemption cash prizes, is that right? Given that, they must be really, really short, right -- who are they?

thanks again, mike

UPDATE: actually, I found your Net54 thread, Adam, from a few years ago. Osteen is one of the short prints? And in total there are 10+Checklist other short prints? Is that right?

Does anyone know if anyone has ever put a complete set together? The SP's are about impossible.

I've got most of the regular cards, but none of the SP's.
