It looks like a real photo. The chemicals that make photopaper fluoresce very light blue under blacklight were introduced in 1955, conveniently the year Honus died. And very consistently (with the expected exceptions) photos from 1955 and after will fluoresce that way. The blacklight wouldn't be a definitive test, but if it is real photo and doesn't fluoresce brightly, that is consistent with it being from Wagner's lifetime.
Also a 1940s photo should be pretty toned/off-white on back. I've had later made Rowe photos that were on snow white photopaper. Last edited by drcy; 06-28-2017 at 10:34 AM. |
