Let's just say if Ken Kendrick wanted to have his PSA 8 T-206 Honus Wagner card re-holdered by PSA to include the new slab and hologram on the flip.
How do you think PSA will proceed? I'm curious to the board's opinions. Tony |

I registered my vote as how they WILL. How I feel they should re-holder it is a different story.

If I were the owner of that card, it would be in the same holder I purchased it in. The Wagner is so famous (there is a book written about it after all) that any changes to the holder would hurt it financially. Therefore, no changes at all makes the most sense

But if it was resubmitted, PSA would have no choice but to give it an "A". How could they possibly explain not doing so? |

If he actually mailed it in without talking to anyone first I think someone would give him a call and tell him to keep the card as is. I guess I should have voted other, as I don't think they would reholder it at all.

Would love to hear Joe Orlando's answer, although he wasn't aboard when Wags got graded.

Since this trimmed T206 was the first card graded by PSA that would make it their first mistake.
I never understood the logic if they could make a mistake on this million dollar card, what's to say they couldn't incorrectly grade any other submission? Not a fan of graded cards regardless of the slabber. Patrick |

If it's trimmed it should be Authentic. It should be no different than any other card.

I think they would give it an AUTH if he insisted on having it reholdered.
Follow up question: If that did happen, how much would the world famous PSA 8 Gretzky-McNall PSA A Wagner then fetch at auction? |

I agree with Rich. After all that's happened, the holder and flip are as much a collectible as the card. |

Does reholder = regrade or does a reholder simply entail cracking and putting in a new slab?

So using a simple proration theory, based on a small sample size of 1, that means (as of this moment), there are 26,699,867 authentication / grading mistakes out there.

Why exactly would it matter if that Wagner is inside a piece of plastic that has "the new slab and hologram on the flip" from the people who get paid for the (often wrong) opinions?

I dont work at PSA, but I have to believe there is no way in the world they would ever label it as authentic.

At this point, it would have to be graded as a Mint version of the Mastro/Gretzky Trimmed-But-Graded-An-8 T-206 Wagner, which is a category unto itself.

It should be placed in an AUTH holder and PSA should refund the price difference between the PSA8 and AUTH designations....

If they did regrade it and change it to Auth, the value would go down, right?
Also, I would think that they would not regrade and make it Auth, because while the info is out there that they screwed up on this... it is not widely known. Many many people know about this Wagner, most do not know it was trimmed, what that even means, or that it was graded wrong. In fact, I would say most people know the Wagner exists and do not even know it is graded or even who PSA is. |

If the PWCC investing group of 10-30 gets wind of it, based on eye appeal alone, regardless of the holder, it will be worth a billion.... on ebay

I just can't imagine any owner ever doing anything but keeping it in the slab it is in currently.

I'm also inclined to believe that this card has maxed out in value. But, I've been predicting that vintage cards would taper off for some time now, and the exact opposite appears to be the case, at least with regard to stars and rarities. Last edited by mark evans; 07-27-2016 at 06:18 PM. |

I read the poll wrong! They would label it a PSA "8". If they "completely" admit they knowingly slabbed a Altered card, woah that would hurt their credibility a lot!
