ahh...
MITCH f**king Williams, ala Bucky f**king Dent???
as a longtime (suffering) Phillies fan, I actually sent Mitch a sympathy card (c/o the Phillies in the winter of 1993, offering my *sincere* condolences on serving up that game/series winning home run) - I felt bad for Williams, and sat SPEECHLESS in my antique barber chair as I watched the *devastating* conclusion to that game vs the Blue Jays, but I felt horrible for him - AND myself, and suffering Phillies fans everywhere - after the "unreal" became REAL - dude got death threats, and while he DID f**k up, guy had 43 saves, and Fregosi went with what got him there...hindsight is 20/20, but...such is life. thanks for the inclusion of Mitch, herbc, as while it WAS a dark moment for this Phillies fan, it was a reminder that LIFE - and baseball - isn't always perfect, or predictable, another reason I *love* this game.
