Hello all, I wanted to thank everyone for this wonderful forum and for helping me out on a Gehrig purchase earlier this week. I just received the card in the mail and had some concerns about the condition of the case. I am attaching a picture but it looks to me like there could be some frosting, and at a minimum there is a little chip in the top left. I am a complete newbie so any thoughts on this and what to do would be much appreciated, or if I am just being paranoid. I am within the return policy on eBay/PayPal as I just got it today. Thanks! Joe

you're just being paranoid. some frosting like that seems normal. card looks fine. if it really bothers you have it re-holstered!

I know exactly how you feel. I was in your shoes about 16 months ago. I was reading everything I could find with regards to these 'new' third party graders and some of the horror stories about fraud and what not. I didn't know if I was coming or going. Things had really changed in the ~30 years I had been away from the hobby.
As you are finding out, these boards are a great resource and full of very helpful people. FWIW, I think your card is fine, and as a fellow Gehrig fan, congratulate you on your card. Welcome (back), Dave

The fraud concerning frosting usually involves kids and their claim that they didn't stick their fingers in the cake.

Here is a good example of a frosted PSA case. The auction house in this case MISSED it. Not sure whatever became of this example, but the case is definitely compromised! Look on the left directly across the NY in his cap and follow it all across the top to the same point on the right hand side.

Thanks for that Mantle example which is really helpful to look at; surprising that could get by an auction house!
