In the April 1, 1957 Card Collector's Bulletin, Buck Barker had a long article about cards that picture the wrong player. I posted most of that issue here: http://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=218784, and below is Barker's article.

.... I know it's really Bobby Doerr because on the back of the " Ted Williams " some little kid , back in the late forties , wrote in a childish script , in pencil , "really bobby doerr "......I am a trusting soul , and little kids don't lie about stuff like that. .. |

Elmer Knetzer listed as Ed Konetchy on a D381 Fleischmann's Bakery card. Same thing happened on Knetzer's card with Konetchy's image:

Although Goodwin & Co. indicated the player shown on this card is Leech Maskrey, it is, in fact, James Macullar.
Matt Clark at SGC is kindly having the card reholdered/relabeled to reflect the proper information. |

The N403 "Yum Yum" card labeled as Cap Anson, actually pictures Ned Williamson.
Also, the N300 John Clarkson, while picturing John, shows him with St Louis. Thing is, John never played for St Louis, and retired after the 1894 season. His brother Dad Clarkson played for St Louis from 1893-1895. Steve

Contrary to what is indicated by this T210 card, this is not L.I. Mills. It is his Wilson teammate Miller who is also depicted with this same pose in the T209-II series.

Sorry, not Pre-war, but it has been said on here this is not Billy Herman but rather Dick Williams?

Hi John
Here's a card not seen to often....an E104 Bris Lord. But of course, it's not really him, it's Sherry Magee (reverse image). ![]() Incidentally......both Magee and Lord have the following in common...... Born a year apart in countryside towns in Pennsylvania. Started their major league careers in BB in 1905 in Philadelphia. TED Z . |

This '56 Topps Aaron actully depicts Willie Mays sliding into home. Topps doctored the NY Giants uniform and air-brushed an "M" and a red bill on the cap.
