Maybe a PSA 8 Canadian is a 9 American with the exchange rate
I'd always heard this card was hard to find nice because it was the last card in the set and subject to greater wear and tear for those orderly people who kept their cards stacked in order secured with rubber bands. And this is his earliest card.

Very nice Fats Henry. During the Black Friday sales on COMC, I was able to pick up one in decent shape for a good price for my set.
Another pickup, this time from the "VIntage Football Cards" group on Facebook. At Least It Doesn’t Smell Like Wieners 1960 Kahn's #27 Ray Renfro by kekinsley, on Flickr 1960 Kahn's #27 Ray Renfro (back) by kekinsley, on Flickr

Thank you - I had been searching for quite a while to find a decent example in my budget range.

img357 by kekinsley, on FlickrNow that they've stopped, I will be sending in my first SGC submission in the next few months. I'm going to start a thread at some point hoping to get opinions, ideas and tips on anything that I might want to do. The folks on here have been so good to chat with! I'm even debating cracking that Thorpe out and sending to SGC. -kin |

I know it's in poor shape, but I found it on COMC for less than $25. I didn't have one from this set yet, so I picked it up.

Nice pick up! My first one was Ben Ciccone. Amazing to think they used to drop kick FGs and PATs (no holder). I think Dutch Clark was the last of the drop kickers although Strong himself kicked as late as 47! I'm guessing he abandoned the drop kick when the shape of the ball changed..... And too bad Chicle couldn't have squeezed in some mention of the Sneakers game - guy was basically the MVP of the previous season's championship game and they couldn't manage to make some mention of it on his football card

Nice load of eBay purchases in my mailbox this afternoon
Still "chipping" away at my early Bowman sets, and finally completed 1970 Topps Supers with this Butkus. I had viewed the Butkus listing earlier in the week, and then eBay sent me a message that the price had been cut in half to $3.75 plus .79c to ship. So I bought it!Larry ![]()

I was thumbing through my 1951 Topps cards the other day, re-checking my wantlist. Discovered that instead of needing just one card to complete my set, I was missing four! Of course this is almost always better than buying a card and discovering you already had it. So I picked up two of the '51 Topps I needed along with a '52 Bowman Small hit.
I couldn't find out much about Elmer Costa. It looks like he might have been drafted by the Browns in 1952. On September 23, 1951 Arnold Burwitz, along with three other players, stole chickens from the school’s farm. In response the school suspended him immediately from the team and two days later expelled him from school. Billy Howton had a pretty good NFL career playing 12 years with the Packers, Browms, and Cowboys. ![]()
