Neither example would attract the type of picky buyer willing to pay a big premium for an above average example in the grade.

Even though those two cards say "3" on their holders and the one that went for 25k also says "3," the 25k PSA 3 was a very, very different card-- hence why our fellow board member happily paid what he did for it. Apples and elephants, IMO. Looking at them together, I can see why one flew off the shelf at 24k, so to speak-- a waterfront property, to borrow that great phrase-- while the other two sit on the shelf at their offered prices.

right one 3 out of the all the other 3s....and one of a kind 3 basically...that 3 would outsell some 4s if someone is buying the card not the holder ...would make it a waterfront End lot or something more than just waterfront..there have been super super centered trimmed cards that can go for 15k.......basically just 1 3 touching 25k out of all the other 3s...its not like we are playing in the 25k range for people with 3's in their personal collection....those 3s on ebay can probably be had for 15k maybe a tick less....only a one of a kind 3 right now basically has gone for 25k.....who knows in a year or so prices can go up ..but just saying right now.

the other issue is the PSA 3 sold for buy it now...had it gone to auction there is the possibility that the card could of been had for less....cant really compare buy it nows to open auction results

as we all know mantles went up years ago and went back down...what must come up.......

the waterfront properties are really the nice. ...its the card AND the condition..i would take my chances with the higher graded cards..thats why we keep seeing higher and higher prices on the higher grade cards....... even when the housing market crashed the waterfront properties were stronger than ever
