who knows if it was celebrated like a cycle he just may...he did get 4 triples..and chose to take the homer....that's why its so cheezy to honor multiple hits when someone else hits more homers ...homers are a single.double or a triple basically
Robin ventura hit a 'triple' didn't he in a world series game even though it cleared the wall? |

Oh man,
I guess there soon will be a thread claiming how tiring these perfect games are when the pitcher allowed the batter to fly out instead of whiffing him. Isn't it better when the pitcher strikes out all 27 batters? Seriously. ![]()

This reminds me of when Matt Young threw a no-hitter for the Red Sox and LOST!

nah both are considered perfect games...........if the pitcher is on a pitch count i would rather see 27 outs on 27 pitches.....27 men up and 27 outs is a perfect game..noone cares about Ks...a bAtter can always bunt on purpose and put a ball in play when given 27 opportunities..

Like I said in the other thread, no hitters and perfect games really piss me off. I'm paying good money to see dingers and excuse me, but I'd like to be at the ballpark for more than 2 hours if I'm coughing up as much as I am.
Forget the stats. I'm the fan. Doesn't my happiness and enjoyment mean anything? All these achievements really grind my gears. Ugh! |

Yes, I do think they're fun. I get to decide everything. I'm a fan and I have an opinion. I can say it as many times as I want and always be right.

I heard somewhere that regarding the triple record, Mantle said something to the effect of: "Well ****, if I knew it was a such a big deal, I would have just stopped at third base."

Yesterday the Brewers stole four bases in one inning off Jon Lester, who seems to be able to only throw to home plate and therefore ignores base runners after several errant throws to first.
But alas the record for thievery in one inning is eight bases. This record is roughly one hundred years old. I think the pitcher was named Lester. ![]() ![]() ![]()
