Agreed that is one of the nicest 3.5s I have seen.....and agree with the advice given you. I typically dont get cards graded...but will buy graded cards of course. It would be nice to have scans of the back prior to making that decision....is the back clean?
If you buy it, it would a nice addition to your collection. Last edited by Zach Wheat; 07-05-2015 at 09:04 AM. |

Another reason to look at the back is that there are two versions of this card. On the scarcer version, the R in major on the back is missing or partially missing along with a portion of the red line. It is just a print defect, but was listed as a variant in the Topps Super set that sold for $150,000 in the H &S auction awhile back. It has little hobby recognition though and would command a premium only for OCD master type collectors..
I have the set and all but 2 are ungraded, so it is easy to access in sheets in binders. I prefer ungraded as a collector. Agree with the others that your motive in obtaining it would drive the grading question Edited-- you have the scarce back Last edited by ALR-bishop; 07-05-2015 at 09:13 AM. |

The Campos black star is recognized by SCD and PSA and Becketts, and carries a large premium. Another version of the Campos has a partially missing front border, but neither it nor the House yellow tiger in it 's many permutations have been formally recognized by the above entities. Still they carry a premium because master collector types think they may eventually get recognized and their value may soar higher
A print defect like the one on the Campanela back is not as likely to ever get formal hobby recognition, but the Campos black star, the 57 Bakep and 58 Herrer are also print defects and yet have been recognized, In any event it is very nice looking card, Canofcorn Last edited by ALR-bishop; 07-05-2015 at 10:16 AM. |

I would crack it out and send it in, expecting a 5. Great looking card.

And this is exactly why I come to these boards. A lot of experience and great input. If I ever crack and grade I will let you know the results!

I recently tried to cross a couple of sgc and bvg cards to psa without cracking them out myself. I had no luck and am, of course, out the grading fees.
Obviously there are risks cracking out yourself, damaging the card in the process, or still not getting the grade you want and having to re-submit to the original TPG. I think if there are surface wrinkles best case scenario would be a PSA 4. For me that would not be worth the trouble and grading fees, and I would keep the card as is. Just my opinion. I know nothing about the variation discussed. Obviously that could change everything if it in fact commands a large premium.
