Glass frames are best - but you could use the small glass black cases, you can find at local antique shops and place more than one photo in them

Depends on the size, and sometimes value, of the photo you're talking about. In the case of the Bra-Mac photos you're referring to, I'd recommend a 3-1/2"x5" toploader.
I will say, with glass, you want to be sure the front of the photo is not touching the glass, whether in a frame or otherwise.
