I started collecting as a kid in 72 but I don't think I ever completed a set till I finished a couple of sets in the 80's. Even though I had thousands of cards as a kid, I don't recall ever attempting to "get them all" Strange because I definitely consider myself a set collector these days.
Since I returned to collecting in aught-9, I've completed 52 bowman, t206 (to 520 which I'm calling complete), 33 goudey (minus Lajoie and Gehrig 160 which I'm calling complete), 73 topps, and also wrapped up the 72 topps that survived my purge in the early 90's. All those sets in collector grade (g-vg) and small-lot-by-small-lot-piece-by-piece. Only working on sub-sets at the moment. Not sure if I'll ever attempt another "complete set" Tony |
