So I'm more a Ruth/Cobb collector and know their prices fairly well. But I recently picked up a t206 Piedmont Frank Smith Boston/Chicago 350-460 factory 25 back in an SGC 5.5. Just want to know a general price range for something like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Brad |

According to the PSA price guide, a PSA 5 would be $600 and a 6 would be $1100. Since it's an SGC, you're probably looking around the low side of that range. Right?

Thanks John, I have no idea the worth so that helps give me a general idea.

Brad- You also need to realize one of the oldest facts of the trade....Buy the card, not the holder. I have PSA 7's that look like 9's, and I value them accordingly. I also have some SGC 88's that are overgraded that are probably worth PSA 6 prices....Hope this helps.

Brad, Kevin touches on something really important. And it's why I can't really give you an accurate idea on what the card could command on the open market right now. Without seeing the card, all any of us can do is give you an estimate.
An SGC 5.5 tells me it's a nice card. But two SGC 5.5s could get command radically different prices, even from the same buyer. A card can technically get downgraded for something very subtle, or something quite noticeable. So while after taking everything into consideration, two cards could conceivably get the same grade, they could look completely different. If the card you have is centered, and I mean really centered, it would command a premium over a similarly-graded card that is off-center. Aesthetics is such a big deal in baseball cards. And speaking for myself, I would much rather have a perfectly centered card with touched corners than an off-centered card with razor sharp corners. If you could post a picture of the card, front and back, we should be able to narrow things what it might go for. Remember though, if more people are hot for the card, the competition could push the price of the card higher than the range we provide. If only a few people are wanting that card at the particular time you have it on sale, it might underperform on what we'd predict. But, having an accurate idea of that card's true market potential at that time could help you set a minimum that would prevent selling the card at too low a price. I, for one, would just love to see it, even if it's just because I'm such a love of the set. ![]()

Thanks Bill, I was just looking for more general pricing really. Its not a perfect card by any means as the photo is lower on one side than the other but it has nice corners and a nice color. I'll post photos of it when I get it in hand from SGC on Monday. But think I'm just going to start at a low price on eBay and what ever it goes for it goes for. Just going to wait until after the holidays though. Thanks again for the info I've maybe sold 2 t206s over the years to hundreds of Ruth's. I try not to act like a novice but on this I am for sure. Lol
