Very few of my red pennants have actually faded. Close to none, as a matter of fact. Rather, the red ones tend to develop a blackish patina over time. Perhaps this is just the accumulation of dust/dirt/grime over the years. See pictured example below, to better visualize this phenomenon. It is most common with older red felt pennants.
As for fading, blue felt seems to have been the worst color, by far. The blue felt typically fades to grey. Very important to keep these blue ones away from direct sunlight. See Yankees Pennant below, as an example. Also see difference between the front and back of early ChiSox Pennant... |
