I just did a quick check, and ignoring how deep my pockets are (not that deep) getting to 250 would be a huge stretch with the current pool without spending more than $5k for any one autograph. Plus I (anyone) would need to be a little lucky with timing-who knows when the next Effa Manley autograph will come up at an auction/for sale and will i have the free cash flow at that time to spend.
Plus, I don't how much longer the Pre-Intergration ballot will be around until they finally say-OK, it is been over 100 years-if they are not in by now, maybe they don't deserve induction. Plus most (not all) of those players autographs that may get in from that period are already so scarce in the marketplace that I will probably never get a chance to own-haven seen a Pete Browning or Tony Mullane autograph offered in some time. That being said, I did take a very expensive insurance rider out on Bill Dahlen recently. |

Bill Dahlen is a solid gamble. It is not a question of "if" but "when" for him.

I don't think the 100-year theory supports the above statement!

I understand that there are a lot of new stats. that were not available to voters even 10 years ago, that being said-with the possible exception of negro leaguers-no stats are changing and eventually in the next 10-20 years, everyone that deserves merit should be in. I feel this is especially true with the Umpires/Owners/Executives.

Here's my October pickup for my Presidential Collection. Although not signed as President, I thought it was neat so I picked it up tonight online while I was sitting in Civil Procedure class trying not to annoy my professor by surfing on my phone bidding in auctions. (Hard to do when you sit on the front row
)Governor Clinton sets the execution date for a convicted inmate (the execution was not carried out) I haven't researched on Westlaw or Lexis to find out why, have too much other stuff to do.

To taz's point though, when Deacon White, Ruppert and O'day went in, it was the lowest attended induction ceremony in decades. How many guys from the 1800's can get put it without a living candidate to draw the crowd? True, the HOF doesn't want shutouts, but I think that onus falls more to the current BBWAA voting procedures, and the Hall changing that structure, than it does to a committee that selects players from a century ago.
