Conrado "Connie" Marrero was a Cuban "junkball" pitcher for the 1950-1954 Senators who almost had a career winning record, despite playing on lousy teams. And, he did this between the ages of 39 and 43! Currently 102 years old, only one other MLB player has lived longer. I think folks will enjoy this read from today's Wash. Post newspaper:

Great story, thanks for posting this article. Here's Connie's 1952 Topps Hi# card.
![]() I think that Chester "Red" Hoff ...... 1891-1998 (107 years old) is the longest living former Major Leaguer. ![]() TED Z |

103 is a long time. My great great grandmother grew up riding a horse and buggy and died the year after we landed on the moon. She told my grandmother that she saw too much change in her lifetime.

Oldest HOFer Bobby Doerr is 96 - he played in the 1930s and 1940s.

In addition, with the possible exception of a couple of Negro League players whose birth dates were unclear, I believe Red Hoff was the longest-living American pro athlete. -Al |
