I was once at Lou Newman's house in Long Island, and I can say he was truly a character. By the time I was there he had sold most of his stuff, and whatever was left he had overvalued by at least tenfold, if not a hundred-fold. He was out there!
For example, I might see something worth fifty bucks, and ask him if it was for sale, and he would say "I don't really want to sell it, but if I could get $5000 for it I might let it go." At that point I knew I was only there for a social visit. Last edited by barrysloate; 01-12-2014 at 10:27 AM. |
