Reporting from Breezy Point, NY--
Lost electricity for a few hours yesterday morning and feared the pipes might freeze, but the winds died down and the house stayed relatively warm.
Called to check if our 10:30 senior softball game in the Babylon Bubble was still on, which of course it was. Made the 40 miles to Long Island in a normal 50 minutes as traffic was light--watch out for potholes on the Belt-- Shoulda stayed home as we lost for the first time this season and I came up empty with the bases loaded. Seems to me it usually got this cold once a winter when I was a kid in Brooklyn. Boy, did I love a snow day [both as a kid and later as a teacher]--those were the best days off of all!
