1. They are unique and they pose a fun challenge beyond merely monetary in assembling them from mainstream sets. Based on availability--money aside--I could assemble a near complete T206 fronts set inside of a few months [the Doyle variation would be the toughie but the rest is out there every auction season]. Other sets are even easier. But assembling a collection of drastic miscuts from the same sets, that's work.
 2. The very drastic miscuts show something about the printing sheets, printing process, etc.   3. Except for the T206 miscusts, they can still be had very cheaply as compared to the same card without the cutting error.  4. I get the sense with the really bad ones that they were never really meant to go out in the first place.
