Hello
First I want to say that I absolutely love this forum. I am a long time collector and am glad I found this site with like minded people who love and respect this hobby. Now for my question. I have a customer who wants to trade a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 that he says was from his grandfathers collection. Like most of you I have heard the "grandfather" story before but this gentleman seems to be honest and he regulars my booth at card shows often. I hope someone could give me some feedback as to if this card is authentic. I have seen some good fakes before. So before I make the trade I would appreciate you guys help. I will try to upload a few images. image.jpg |

Can you post clear straight on pictures of the front and more importantly the whole back?

If it's a reprint it's an older one.

Rhymes w/baloney...I think...I don't like the wrinkling and the borders look odd?

Yuck, run the other way. That crinkling is not a good sign. You can compare it to this other low grade but authentic one..

The left hole(looks like a button) on his hat does not look right. Real cards that I have seen show the whole hole area. Your card looks like the front of the Renato Golasso reprint.

Here's a PSA 7 where the borders are "weird", and the buttonhole looks different.... I don't think it's disqualified yet.
