I like the history involved.

I dislike the drama.

Likes: Love having a connection to the times when the cards I'm collecting originally came out. Love thinking about the times and years, and what was going on in the world in those years the cards were issued (dead ball era, and the 50's etc.) I also really love to get the cards that I wasn't able to get when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's.

Hates: Often hate the concept of grading in general sometimes feel it is a scam and we are believing the scam. I also really really hate late 90's insert cards and the jersey, swatch, auto, bat fragment cards of recent vintage. Those are straight garbage.

Love Net 54 and this hobby we all share.

And on the drama topic..I remember a couple years ago, Leon took a poll (I think) on whether to allow religion and political discussion to take place. Now that woulda been DRAMA.

I love the wealth of information that is available here, and the wonderful people that provide it. I can truly say that you all have enriched my hobby experience.

I have wanted to explore the baseball cards that were made before I was born for some time, but never felt I had the knowledge necessary to make those purchases. I was worried about overpaying, as well as buying cards that might be fakes. Now I look forward to building the collection I have always dreamed of having, and I thank you all.

Barry--I never knew Willa Cather was from the Bronx. Thank you for teaching me that! BTW, do you count Poe as from the Bronx? He had a home in the north part of the Borough.

Like:

Reading and learning about base ball history and how it mirrors US history in so many ways and then holding a small piece of that history in my hands.

Dislike:

People who cheat and dealers who try to convince me that the cards they are selling are the greatest and cards any other dealer has for sale are second rate.
