Hi John, Thank you. There is no credit on the front or back.

I do have a real photo postcard that used a couple of the same images, it was produced by Comet Studios in Boston.

Scott,
Congrats on the pics.
I absolutely love this pic.
I think it would look incredible in Kreindlercolor.

Best,
Mark

Default Now for my own

Well it has been a while since I posted any pickups. I've been spending money on getting the basement finished so I would have a place to hang all this stuff. So far, my room is done so I am starting to go through some stuff to decide what to hang etc and came across some things I forgot I had.

Late 50's 60's UPI restrike pic of Joe D and Cronin. Signed by both.

Type 1 of Ford and Mantle. The back has a NY times stamp without a zip code. I know original NY times pics are rare as they haven't sold their pic archives. I have not seen any exemplars of other NYT stamps either. Any further ID help would be appreciated.

1962 Wirephoto of Koufax's no hitter against the Mets.

Original 1927 Type 1 of Lou at the playground. This goes with the one of him in the playground at bat(which I don't have...Yet!)

1928 Type 1 of Lou in Spring Training.

Original promo pic of Ruth, Cooper, and Mack Prior to POY filming.

Default A couple more

So I just won on ebay this set of pics of Mel Ott.

I got them for 2 reasons. First Mel Ott was my dad's favorite player, so I always have a soft spot for him. Second is that it goes with the other pics taken prior to the 1936 WS of Lou and them together.

Interestingly enough, on the right edge of the top Ott pic there is a brown shadow that matches with a similar one on the left of the second pic. The reason i find it interesting is that my two Gehrig photos are taped together with a similar brown tape. I wonder if they are still connected. The seller didn't specify either way. I'll see when they get here.

I also picked up a nice pic of Lou with his wife.

Mark, This one was on the back of a photo of Eddie Stanky in action dated 7/4/51. I know I have some other examples scanned around here somewhere, but this was the first I could lay hands on. All of the ones that I have handled (single digits) originated in some way from a player's estate (this one from Stanky's) which leads me to believe they were given to the player photographed as a complimentary copy or perhaps upon request. As you say, the rest of the hard copies are still locked up tight in the archives, taunting John Rogers in his dreams

Lance,
Thanks very much.
It is an interesting thing. There is only one exemplar in the Yee-Fogel book, but it is so small, you can barely make it out.
The book states that since 1941 none of the Times pics were used for syndication, so originals are very difficult to find. I didn't know this until tonight rereading that section. I've had the pic for a very long time, so I have no idea where I got it.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for the compliment. I must admit that when I spotted this photo I thought this would be perfect for Graig to paint as well.

BTW, awesome photos that you posted as well. I especially like the two of Lou Gehrig. The spring training image is a dazzler!

Man, Lou was a monster. Look at him compared to those kids. What a great picture.

Yeah, I didn't realize he had such muscular arms.
