How do you explain a (seemingly) wealthy gentleman showing that he won the same card in a Heritage auction, on Youtube, from a few years ago? He's got your card!!

Haven't you heard that TV adds 10 lbs? Andrew is clearly the very successful cardiologist with millions of dollars of memorabilia in a highly organized, and well-kept show room! The game worn Gehrig jersey is under the lotion.

Default I don't believe this!

I have been working like crazy all evening, since about 3:00 to now-12:18 A.M. Indiana time on preparing lessons for upcoming standardized testing for my students; and I thought I would jump on the board before I crashed in bed.......when low and behold, I missed the thread of the year, maybe all-time! (Wow! that was a run-on sentence.) This is the funniest thread & baseball card related thing I have ever seen! There have been some crazy threads in the past week on our board! Leon, you have to be going nuts as the administrator lately! My dull Monday turned into "I can't wait to get on the board" Tuesday!

I was tired earlier so I took a nap. When I woke up I noticed a locked thread and now this one. At one point I thought I might still be sleeping and only dreaming this since I do have many incredibly detailed dreams but most i'm usually at random colleges and schools or on vacation to places i've never been. I finally realized i'm not dreaming when I saw the Mona Lisa . I think that would of been the point where I would have woke up.

At 11:59, I asked how Andrew acquired the card and why he is willing to sell it for $75,000 when it supposedly last sold for $220,000.

At 12:33, Andrew lists it in the Tobacco section of the B/S/T.

At 12:55, Andrew states he didn't know the card was worth so much money.

SO ---

Andrew still hasn't answered HOW he obtained the card and hasn't answered WHY he is willing to sell it for about 1/3 of the price ti last sold for.

Furthermore, he states that he has been on this board for awhile yet doesn't know that a T206 Wagner (even in THAT condition) is worth quite a bit of money.

Strange.....

David

Tim, it is a conspiracy Leon and the other Admin's have cooked up.

Bring back Cobb and Edwards and their T206 Wagner, add in a guy who thinks Comiskey is in a photo from 1879 and not only has experts to prove it but also auction houses willing to sell it for him (while totally ignoring an expert in photo ID) and THEN to top it off, have a guy named Andrew come on with HIS T206 Wagner.

Why would they do this to us? RATINGS!!!!!

They are about to sell the board to a massive company that is looking to expand its empire and the more page clicks they can have the higher the price they can sell the board for.

David, Love the Conspiracy Theory!

Hank, You WERE plagiarizing me!

This thread keeps getting wackier by the moment, but I've got to get some sleep!

I don't have a good enough imagination to dream all of this stuff up. No way.

David makes a good point. As funny as this whole thread is, it doesn't negate the fact that a scam was attempted to be perpetrated by someone that apparently doesn't know too much about cards. Fortunatey, most of us know the provenance of the card and the story behind it so nobody got taken.

Default Very True

David,
Yes, this is ceratinly a crazy, humerous thread; but you are correct in that someone knowingly (It certainly appears anyway) tried to scam others. Not being a lawyer or ever educated in such issues, is there really anything anyone can do about it though?

Edited: On a lighter note......can't wait to see what Sterling and B&L have in their upcoming auctions!

If a vampire doesn't cast a reflection in a mirror why can't we see his clothes? The Invisible Man's clothes were visible. Is a vampire more invisible than the Invisible Man? Does the Wolfman shed? If the Mummy is a rotten body trussed up in dirty bandages, wouldn't you smell him long before he could sneak up on you? How does Frankenstein's monster catch anyone? He walks like an old man with a bad hip. Why don't the Incredible Hulk's pants ever shred like the rest of his clothes?

When I read threads like this I think of these kinds of questions. I think I'll go fling some poo at the tourists outside my cage.
