To me his most impressive feat was not the hits, hrs or avg, it was his marriage of 71 years that truly AMAZES me. Also, by all accounts Stan was a better person than ball player.....simply amazing.

I got to meet him once. He was a real gentleman and friendly to everyone. He was truly the "Mickey Mantle" of the midwest. His cards would be much more expensive if he had played for one of the New York teams. Here's a few of his cards I've found over the years.

WOW ! .....the STATS on the back of this 1953 BOWMAN card of Stan show a .352 career BA for his first 11 years with the Cardinals.
TRIVIA quiz A well-known BB player was born on the same day (years later) as Stan Musial and in the same town in Pennsylvania. Who is he ? ![]() TED Z |
