206's will always win that battle. For me I am a 205 guy though. Love the cards and bios

Boy, I do love both.
T206 has Wagner, and multiple poses of so many key players. It's such a challenge to complete, and there are so many ways to collect - HOFers, teams, back varieties, individual players, Southern Leaguers - and someone made this analogy to me once and it stuck, but the portrait cards look like they could be mounted over someone's fireplace. T205, though, are absolutely gorgeous, IMO the most beautiful prewar designs. In higher grades, the gold borders are stunning, and the set has its own bunch of interesting variations and tough back varieties. It's a much smaller set, so it's much easier to complete (despite the challenges), and I think a T205 Cobb just might be the most beautiful card ever made. I've taken a run at collecting each set, and gotten about halfway through with each. All I have to do is handle cards from either set, and I fall back in love with them almost instantly. But since I love the mysteries of the sets I've collected, and love uncovering new details and learning new things about the sets I collect, I've got to go with T206. There's just so much there to enjoy and learn, regardless of how long you've collected them. So, T206 for me, by a hair. -Al |

I like both T205 and T206. I think the T205s are better looking.
Even though the T205 Cobb is relatively easy to find I waited many years to get just the right one, with the look I wanted and in my budget. I got it at the first Oaks show I did, from a good hobby bud, Bryan Dec. I didn't have much cash and we traded a set of Sawyer Biscuits for it, and some cash one way or the other. As soon as I saw it in his case I was devising ways to get it and couldn't get it off my mind. I am sure no one has ever had that kind of thing happen before. ![]()

I like the looks of the T205's better and I especially like the bio on the back. I know there are guys that just look for certain backs on the T206's, but that has never interested me.

I know some of the history of both sets. Im not taking the Wagner cards value into this topic at all, as im sure I will never own one nor will almost anyone. I know t206 has alot more, sub sets if you will. But i can say that the t205's are the most beautiful cards i have ever seen or owned. Along with the few variations of a few of them and those minor league cards are by far my favorite. Although i just started collection both sets the t205 is the one i prefer.

I enjoy both sets but T206's are at the top of my list. I got into T205's a few years back when I had some extra money and there were no good T206's on ebay. Once I had my first T205 in my hands, I was hooked. My first card was a Tony Smith American Beauty Green in PSA 4 condition. I collect both for the challenge and the rarity of completing a set.
