Finished one part of Angels pennant collection by picking up this 1967 All-Star pennant. I really wish they would have moved the Big A back into left field when the stadium was renovated.

I felt that way too.... was really hoping they would move the "A" back where it belongs. The renovation was pretty neat, but that classic Big A in Left Field was magical. I can still recall Lee Stanton hitting one of the legs of the "A" on 2 bounces. A mammoth blast! |

I liked this one. Bob Feller made his debut with the Indians in July of 1936 at the age of 17. Then he went back to finish High School in Van Meter, Iowa. This was taken in December 1936 in school. He had already struck out 17 batters in one game at the age of 17! And went 5-3 with a 3.34 ERA.

This past weekend my dad, my son and I spent the day hitting an estate auction and an antique/paper show, and the three generations of us were all pretty excited by our pickups. First at the estate auction, what had been billed as some old baseballs turned out to be well worth stopping by for. The cream of the crop was a 1928 Philadelphia Athletics team signed ball featuring Cobb, Speaker, Mack etc; for some reason signed on a Spalding National League ball. Then at the paper show, I met up with a fellow Carlisle Indians collector and worked out a trade that we were both happy with - I ended up with a circa 1910 Carlisle Lacrosse team photo, a Carlisle football team photo (most likely a shop team), and a Letter award for playing Lacrosse that is signed by Pop Warner. The most exciting find of the show beside that trade was a very attractive Dieges & Clust Figural Baseball Plaque dated to 1916. Overall a pretty fun day.

I posted this on the autograph forum earlier, but figured I would post as a reply to my previous post here, since I picked this ball up with the 28 A's ball.
One of the other balls that came with this Pesky ball included a 1945 dated baseball signed by various servicemen stationed at Pearl Harbor. The ball in question is a Reach Harridge model ball, with a US Navy stamping. It has 2 signatures, 1 of which is Johnny Pesky. I was curious if any recognizes the second signature? Based on its inclusion with the Pearl Harbor ball, my theory is that a Navy serviceman had Pesky sign this ball in 1945, since Pesky was also stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time. The 2nd signature might not be a player at all, but figured I would pick the brains of the auto experts over here. Thanks in advance for any help, Keith ![]() |

Here are 3 new pickups to show:
1) 1937 Wheaties box panel of HOF'er Ernie Lombardi. He caught Johnny Vander Meer's consecutive no-hitters in 1938 2) 1940 World Series game 5 ticket stub. This game would prove to be Vander Meer's only appearance in the October classic. Vandy pitched 3 shutout innings in relief. 3) 1972 Bob Moose Testimonial program. Bob Moose no-hit the Miracle Mets in NY on 9/20/69. He ironically died suddenly in 1976 while getting into a two car crash in OH heading to his own 29th birthday party at Bill Mazeroski's house. I recently picked up a few items from Pirate Bob Moose’s estate. They include his 1971 Pirates team travel Blazer with matching tie, and a tankard commemorating the 1971 Pirates World Series Championship. Each member of the team was given a tankard. The wire photo shows Moose (left) and Bruce Kison (right) leaving Memorial Stadium shortly after game seven. In the background of the photo is Bob Prince who had chartered a helicopter to deliver Kison to his wedding which was scheduled that same afternoon. Moose served as the best man. Although it is difficult to see, if you look closely at Kison’s blazer it appears to be similar to the one I purchased. Moose is carrying his own Blazer. Obviously I cannot be certain that it is the same jacket. However, it may not be a strecth to assume so. Bob Moose died tragically on October 9, 1976 in a car accident. He was traveling to a party being held at Bill Mazeroski’s house to celebrate his 29th Birthday.

I have always wanted an example of this 1949 poster. It features the 1948 Tribe and 11 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. I picked this one up fairly cheaply due to a few condition issues. They really don't detract from the piece and will be covered when the poster is matted and framed.

This is pre-October for me also, it's 9x14 and I haven't been able to locate a scanner big enough to scan, so please excuse the watermark. See if you can pick out the 15 yr old future member of the 3000 hit club and future Hall of Famer.

That's a good one, as long as you're only scanning flat items. Best value I've found for oversized items. My only complaint is that if you are scanning something with "depth" to it (including anything in a hard slab), it doesn't focus well. As long as your photo is flat on the glass though, it works well. |
