as a newbie collector myself, i think that you're on the right track there. until i have more expertise, i buy slabbed. if i want to yank them out of the slab, i can and at least i have some peace of mind that what i bought is real.

Welcome aboard!

On your cards, I agree the Ruth does not look good and I would also be concerned with the Mantle Exhibit, post a back pic and I can give you a better idea if its real or a reprint, sorry.

Aaron is also 100% fake. This particular Aaron reprint is easy to tell by the faded area that runs horizontally across his forehead through the spot where the red bill of his hat connects to the blue crown.

Why is it that the only cards you have for sale are either fake or altered? Are any of your Mantles for sale?

This thread pretty much sums up what is wrong with the industry today. I hate to think how many fake Ruths are socked away in peoples safes and albums of unsuspecting casual collectors. Unfortunately, when you add all the reprint cards in fake TPG holders, you have a real mess.

I think there are extremely few (though I am sure there are a few) reprint cards in SGC, PSA or Beckett holders. As for fakes in unsuspecting collectors collections I think there are thousands and thousands and it's unfortunate.

This thread also points out what knowledgeable collectors exist here, the quickness they act with and overall support the community has and exhibits against FRAUDS! This whole thing came unraveled in minutes, actually seconds if you look at the time of the posts. I thank Leon for all he does but several members got involved very quickly and in a respectful way IMO.

Then what are you doing here, saying that CSA is a reputable grading company, and comparing it to PSA, SGC and Beckett? This card is trimmed and worth well under $100.

Stop preying on people as "unknowledgable" as you. Maybe you should just stick with Nascar toys...

The knowledge of this board is a huge plus to this sector of the industry. Perhaps the number of reprint or suspect cards in TPG isn't a huge problem yet, but it is getting there. iMO, you are starting to see more of it with high-grade non-vintage cards (50's & 60's).
