BTW... Where are all the photos? For the last few years there were loads of photos that fellow board members picked up from the John Rogers collection! What gives guys?

Awesome stuff guys. I really never had time to really walk the show, so I didn't see most of the stuff on the floor. I did pick up a few things and will post some pictures when I get unpacked.

Nice pick-up. (I have one, but it hung for 80 years in a Nova Scotia cabin, so a little worse for the wear). How did you confirm it to 1915 as the year?

Thanks,

Max

Thanks Max - the 1915 isn't 100% certain but I believe that logo has been used on other items which are specifically dated to 1915. So I could say it's from the 1910s but I think 1915 is generally believed to be most likely on this one.

And I'm sure even yours looks great - how can a 100 year old pennant be anything else?!

Way to go Scott. Nice Sox Pennant! I am also not sure on the year. I have heard 15 or 18. One of these days, we'll pin it down. Congrats.

Joe-

I had no idea there were ones that were unsigned. I know Cobb produced these for his family and friends, so had always assumed all were signed.

Jon, why do you think these were produced by Cobb? I wouldn't think that even Cobb would refer to himself as "The Word's Greatest Ball Player."

David-

The info actually came from Rob Lifson, although I'm not sure the genesis of the theory. According to REA, "These exceedingly rare photographic displays were produced in the 1920s by Ty Cobb himself for use as special presentation gifts to friends. (The fact that they were only given to Cobb's friends may, all by itself, explain their great rarity.). . . The cover of the folder reads “Souvenir Photos of Ty Cobb – The World’s Greatest Ball Player” (modesty was never Cobb’s strong suit)."
