It's not for me, but I see the allure. I think it's kind of neat.

People pay for ringtones, why not pay a bit extra for a personalized voice message and wall paper for your computer from your favorite athlete. I can see this being popular as a gift.

Not everybody buys stuff from a collectible or investment standpoint. If they did QVC would have been out of business a long time ago.

It's the novelty and personalization of it that may make it popular.

Its a fancy expensive way of getting a somewhat personal email from a player. I get the allure. Not for me either, but I get it.
