The jersey is a few years old, certified by Mears, and looks good with no red flags that I've noticed. The player will likely be a first ballot HOFer. What would be a fair price for this? I know it's vague but a ballpark figure is all I'm asking for.

That's a tough question to answer without knowing who the player is, what vintage the jersey is and whether it's a home or road jersey. This may be why nobody is offering up a response. Just my 2 cents. |

I'm trying to think of who such a player could be. Offhand, Greg Maddux might be worth $600. Just an example price. A nice Griffey Jr. would probably be more. Those are two especially popular players (and sure fire first ballot guys). Someone like Jeff Bagwell and Jim Thome would be less-- and I don't think they're first ballot guys.

I'm a big Pudge fan. First ballot, maybe, PED rumors will likely hurt him as a first ballot. In MHO he should considered in that class. Nonetheless, I picked up a 2002 TX home jersey signed by him with the game worn inscription for around $625.00.

Randy Johnson would fetch considerably more than $750...

Besides The Big Unit, Derek Jeter, Jim Thome, Chipper Jones would be others that could fit Jarrod's description of a first ballot HOF'er in my opinion. Certainly Jeter's jersey has a value that will be up there pretty high because he was a NYY.... |

Alright, it's an '04 Chipper road jersey. Has the Warren Spahn memorial patch on the sleeve.

Thanks for the responses so far. And good deduction, Scott!

Absolutely Zip! Sorry for the omission for someone IMHO should enter the hall with the 1st 100% vote by the committee.

I would guess that Chipper's '04 road jersey would sell for the $750- $1000 range, perhaps a bit more. |

Judging from some of the prices realized for non-HOF-bound spring training and TBC jerseys, I'd expect $1200 or more. I'd hand deliver cash that day for $750!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...vip=true&rt=nc Bummer, as I'd sent a best offer to the guy a couple of weeks ago, but it was declined. He contacted me yesterday saying he didn't know he had a minimum set and told me what he'd take for it (which was less than it sold for today). Last edited by scmavl; 06-30-2012 at 02:33 PM. |

What a bummer, Jarrod. Tough to pull the trigger without a good sense of market value. Been there too many times.
