Cooperstown
Dont' know your preferences but we just got back. Stayed at the Tunnicliff Bed and Breakfast 500 steps from the Hall and it was great in our opinion. Breakfast of course and a great prime rib and lobster restaurant below.
If you want a five star hotel this isn't it but convenient to everything and comfortable it is. We went off season which suited us perfectly. I am crowd averse so would not want to be there in the summer or induction weekend. When we walked to the Hall on Friday morning for the first hour or so we were among only about 10 visitors.
