Lake Front Motel was completely refurbished last year and is now nicer than Skip remembers. On the lake and two blocks from the HOF.

Dont' know your preferences but we just got back. Stayed at the Tunnicliff Bed and Breakfast 500 steps from the Hall and it was great in our opinion. Breakfast of course and a great prime rib and lobster restaurant below.

If you want a five star hotel this isn't it but convenient to everything and comfortable it is.

We went off season which suited us perfectly. I am crowd averse so would not want to be there in the summer or induction weekend. When we walked to the Hall on Friday morning for the first hour or so we were among only about 10 visitors.

Enjoy - we certainly did.

Thanks for all the information guys. I'm going with my brother in-law and we don't expcet to do much more than sleep at the hotel, so we definately don't need the 5 star variety. I appreciate all the information.

Any reasonably priced golf courses ($50 or less) in the area you'd recommend?

There are also several Holiday Inn-type chain hotels just outside the village limits on route 28. They are reasonably priced, but you have to drive into town, and now there is not as much free parking as there once was (10 dollars to park for the day in the Doubleday Field parking lot.
My son had a game at Doubleday Field on Memorial Day afternoon, and we were shocked at how quiet it was in town.
