| Refinishing Pewter (trophy mug)

This item (5" tall glass-bottom, N.G. Wood & Sons, pewter) didn't cost much, and I think it would look a lot better cleaned - in fact, there is orange residue around the brass bear logo from ancient cleanings. Any suggestions on cleaning such an item? Or is cleaning a no-no?
